Planning and Land Use Services (PLUS) is an innovative and impactful South Australian Government division that manages the planning and land use systems and policy tools for South Australia. This includes strategic planning, growth management, building and land use services – all with a focus on creating more vibrant, diverse and engaging places for our communities to thrive.

PLUS is committed to delivering key reform initiatives that enhance the state’s planning system and to help provide solutions relating to housing diversity and population growth. Their focus on innovation has already delivered the first state-wide ePlanning platform in Australia. PLUS is now extending this digital footprint with the first 100% digitised, dynamic and interactive Regional Planning Program.

PLUS has also developed a number of other digital tools to support communities and industry. They are available through its ePlanning website, PlanSA:

  • Land Supply Dashboard – provides detailed information about land availability, housing supply and urban development patterns across Greater Adelaide
  • Code Amendment Map Viewer – an interactive mapping tool that provides an overview on the status, proposal and linkages for initiated code amendments
  • Metropolitan development activity tracker – displays new developments as a three-dimensional model showing location, height and scale.

The Regional Planning Program is a visionary piece of work being undertaken by PLUS and the State Planning Commission that sets the strategic planning direction for South Australia for generations to come. The program will identify growth areas in the seven planning regions and the long-term infrastructure needed to support sustainable growth.

The Greater Adelaide Regional Plan will be finalised in early 2025 with the remaining six country regional plans to be delivered later that year. The plans will be delivered via the digital regional planning portal that will give unprecedented access to state-wide planning and infrastructure framework.
