Right now, South Australia is building more homes than ever before.
This is the result of the initiatives from the South Australian Government’s Housing Roadmap to make it easier for first home buyers to get into their own homes.
It’s real progress for real people.
Claudia, Seaton
First Home buyer
I grew up in the western suburbs, and being close to family was non-negotiable.
When I saw the State Government’s new land release right here in Seaton, I knew this was where I wanted to be.
Being a first home buyer isn’t easy, but not having to pay stamp duty saved me thousands. Add the extended first home owner grant on top, and it honestly made all the difference.
I can’t wait to move in and start meeting my new neighbours. It really feels like the start of an exciting new chapter

Josh, Munno Para West
First Home buyer
I've always wanted to own my own home, and being the first in my family to do so has made it even more special.
Buying a first home has its challenges, but not having to pay stamp duty saved me so much money.
With the State Government releasing so much land for new homes, my neighbourhood will soon be full of other first home buyers like myself.
My family moved around a lot growing up, so it's unreal to finally have a place of my own.

Stamp duty has been abolished for all first home buyers who buy or build a new home in South Australia.
The stamp duty exemption is available to all first home buyers who buy a new home (including a house, flat, unit, townhouse or apartment), an off-the-plan apartment, a house and land package or vacant land to build a new home.
The First Home Owner grant has also been extended to all eligible first home buyers.
The South Australian Government is fast tracking what will be the single largest release of residential land in the state’s history, set to deliver 50,000 more homes for South Australians.
Work is already underway with the rezoning of 235ha of land at Onkaparinga Heights, and major sites identified for re-zoning in Concordia, Sellicks Beach and Dry Creek.

The South Australian Government is helping to make renters feel more at home.
For the first time in South Australia, tenants now have the right to own a pet under rental reforms to address affordability and balance the needs of tenants and landlords.
With further protections in place, lease renewals are now fairer, bonds are more affordable, and there’s a ban on rent bidding.
The State Government is investing in building the necessary infrastructure over the next few years to unlock housing growth in Adelaide’s north and south.
Work to deliver this new infrastructure is well underway, with the State Government already investing a record investment in water pipes to deliver critical housing supply in Adelaide north.
